THIRTEEN FACTS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ASIWAJU BOLA TINUBU.

1. He is American trained southern Nigerian politician, and another Yoruba leader

2. He is an adopted child or the offspring of a mentally deranged mother

3. His political career began in 1992 as a senator representing the Lagos West constituency in the short-lived Nigerian Third Republic

4. Tinubu became a founding member of the pro-democracy National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) in 1993

5. He went into exile in 1994 and returned to the country in 1998 after the death of military dictator Sani Abacha

6. He stood for the position of Executive Governor of Lagos State on the Alliance for Democracy (AD) ticket  under the leadership Abraham Adesanya and Ayo Adebanjo and was elected .

7. Tinubu won re-election to office as Governor in April 2003 when all other states in the southwest  fell to the People's Democratic Party with the encroachment powerful of the then President Obasanjo.

8. Tinubu refused to take Obasanjo instruction on the creation of new Local governments this led to the grudge between the two consequently Obasanjo stops the payment of Federal Allocation to him, being a brilliant accountant

9. Tinubu ran Lagos state just on State Internal Generated Revenue for four years.

He cut  Obasanjo  to size when he was all out to demystify him

10. He defied the odds, many times too many. He has single-handedly put the Obasanjo-led  PDP into shame in Lagos

11. Tinubu is married to Oluremi Tinubu, the current Senator of central Lagos State

12. His mother, Abibatu Mogaji died on June 15, 2013 at the age of 9

13. He was Accounting major at College, and he did serve in Mobil, as treasurer.

My point here is that Tinubu  the Asiwaju of Lagos and by extension Asiwaju of Yoruba Land may jolly when have his eyes set on the same prize and he will be a formidable candidate for the honor as well. But for him and what he stood for in Lagos State and Nigeria, I would argue that Awolowo’s legacies and myth would have been seriously put in reverse, if not somewhat dented or damaged by Obasanjo. I concede that it is really difficult for Obasanjo or any Yoruba Leader to want to obliterate Awolowo from our hearts and consciousness without damaging themselves beyond repairs, in doing so, as Baba Iyabo has found o.

Being a Nigeria Politician he is as well hanged with a lot of corruption cases, but none as proven to be right, in as much I wouldn’t want my sentiment to set in , but Tinubu is a true hero and smart fellow.
