The villagers express their dissatisfaction when Naij.com visited the community recently.
There are two schools in Ophorigbala community; Ophorigbala Mixed Secondary School and Taku Primary School.
The primary school founded in July 1943 was named after the hunter who discovered the village. Since it was founded, there has not been any major repair of facilities in the school.
The buildings and facilities in both schools are totally damaged while the students/ pupils receive lecture in an inconducive environment.
Naij.com during its visit to the schools discovered that the water taps and reservoir installed in both schools are damaged. Hence, the students depend on unhygienic well water.
The stinking and the dirty states of the school pit toilets are highly nauseating and constitute great health hazards.
Due to the bad state of the major access road to the village, most of the teachers had stopped coming to teach in the schools. Few of the teachers who chose to resume often go through the unpalatable rigour of accessing the schools by either by trekking or through local canoe.
